Plus UNC Coach Roy Williams got his 600th win last night but thats kinda off subject.
The best blog on earth... if only I would remember to post more often. Praise me! haha.

Indy ROCKS
Can ANYONE beat the Colts?!?!?! I wasn't paying alot of attention to football yesterday, but when I first checked the scores, the Texans were up 17-0 on the Colts and had the ball. When I finally checked again, the Colts had a 28-20 lead and never looked back. They are now 11-0!! This is a team that lost a Hall of Fame coach and replaced him with a coach (Jim Caldwell) with no head coaching experience. To make it worse, star QB Peyton Manning openly stated during the off-season that he was not pleased with how Caldwell and Co. were doing things, adding that he had no idea what was going on. But they quickly fixed it and are now five games away from an undefeated season, and its not like their schedule has been easy. They've squeaked out close wins against the Patriots, Ravens, Texans (twice), they've ripped the Cardinals and have a tough one next week against the rejuvenated Tennessee Titans.

Talk about sucking it up...

I really don't pay much attention to the NBA, I really only pay attention to all the UNC Alumni. But I was looking at the standings yesterday and at the very bottom was the New Jersey Nets. What was so terribly bad about them? Uhhhhhhhhhh... lets just say they are 0-14. They probably won't go 0-82 but I can imagine them setting the record for the most losses... how bad are they? In a game against the New York Knicks, who are probably the second worst team (and LeBron won't be coming next year) beat them. Not only that, but Knicks guard Nate Robinson purposefully made a 3 pointer... in the wrong basket. That gave the Nets 3 points and they still lost against a team that doesn't even put forth effort. Oh yah, 3 of their next 4 games are against winning teams... don't be surprised if they have not won a game come December.

My Prediction...
If you read my comment box a couple of posts ago you probably saw that I predicted that UNC would beat OSU 74-71 in a sloppy game. Well, UNC won 77-74 (IM SO AWESOME) and WOW it was really sloppy at some points. There were 35 total turnovers (most of which were just stupid passes) including 10 from one OSU player alone. There were alot of dropped passes and rebounds and both team struggled on the free throw line.
Todays prediction - UNC beats Syracuse 91-84 in a really fast paced game.

#1 Kansas and #2 Michigan State avoid upsets.

Last, night, I got to watch the college basketball game between #2 Michigan State and unranked Gonzaga. The Zags are my second favorite team because my mom's side of the family cheers for them (which you probably realized if you read my uncles comments on my mom's blog and mine.) The Spartans were heavy favorites to win (they were at home) but the Zags dominated early, taking a five point half-time lead, and then extending it to ten points in the second half. But Michigan State stormed back, winning a close game, 75-71. (sorry uncle W) I missed the game between #1 Kansas and another unranked team, Memphis. That also turned out to be a great game, but no upset. Kansas won 57-55.
If you missed these, and really wan't to see a good game, check out #6 UNC (GO HEELS!!!) as they visit #15 Ohio State tomorrow at 9:00 p.m. ET.
If you wan't to watch a really good football game this weekend, try the 1-8 Cleveland Browns and the 1-8 Detroit Lions... OK, just kidding. How about two under-achieving 5-4 teams, the Atlanta Falcons at the New York Giants.

Back from retreat.
I got back last night from a weekend retreat at Camp Maria (in southern MD). It was really fun, but I'm REALLY tired because I shared a room with the two loudest people on earth. That's enough for now. YAWN

NFL Midseason Awards
I'm REALLY bored so I'll give out some awards.
MVP - QB Peyton Manning (Colts) - 221/313 (70.6%) 2545 yrds 16TD 5 INT 105.2 rating
He and Drew Brees have similar numbers and their teams are both 8-0, but Peyton Manning wins because his team
runs the ball very poorly, so he had been
carrying Indianapolis on his shoulders. He has also turned the ball over way less than Brees.
Runner Ups - QB Drew Brees (Saints)
RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings)
Off Player of the Year - RB Chris Johnson (Titans) - 1121 total yrds 7 TD
Not in the MVP race because his team is 2-6, but he leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage and has an insane 6.7 yards per carry.
Runner Ups - RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings)
RB Ray Rice (Ravens)
Def Player of the Year - S Darren Sharper (Saints) - 35 tkls 7 Int 3 def TD
Sorry to Jared Allen, Dwight Freeney, and Elvis Dumervil but I just can't get over the 7 interceptions and 3 defensive TD's. It's been awhile since someone has taken three interceptions to the house. Also, Sharper is on pace for an NFL record 14 interceptions and has led a once pathetic Saints defense to be one of the NFL's best.
Runner Ups - DE Jared Allen (Vikings)
DE Dwight Freeney (Colts)
Rookie of the Year - WR Percy Harvin (Vikings) - 408 scrimmage yards, 3 REC TD, 2 KR TD
He's been a huge playmaker for the Vikings, with four big kick returns (2 of them are TD's) and, combined with speedy Bernard Berrian, he has helped stretch the field for other Viking stars, like Adrian Peterson.
Runner Ups - CB Jarius Byrd (Bills)
LB Aaron Curry (Seahawks)
Offensive ROY - WR Hakeem Nicks (Giants) - 416 scrimmage yards, 4 Rec TD
The big question for the Giants this year, Which receiver is going to step up and become Eli Manning's go to receiver? Well, that has been Steve Smith, but Nicks has also shined, becoming a big play machine in his first season. His numbers are even better knowing that he missed two games with an ankle injury, and backed up Mario Manningham for most of the year.
Runner Ups - RB LeSean McCoy (Eagles)
WR Jeremy Maclin (Eagles)
Defensive ROY - CB Jarius Byrd (Bills) - 32 tkls 7 Int
A rookie is tied with Darren Sharper for the NFL lead in interceptions. Also, Byrd was not the first Bills defender chosen in the draft. He was a second round pick, and WOW he has been great!
Runner Ups - LB Aaron Curry (Seahawks)
DE Brian Orakpo (Redskins)
Comeback Player of the Year - Chad Ocho Cinco (Bengals) - 44 rec 639 yrds, 5TD
Following up a miserable year last year, Ocho's now working hard and its paying dividends. He's also helped the surprising Bengals to a 6-2 record. Brady didn't win this award because its not hard to put up huge numbers with superstar receivers.
Runner Ups - QB Tom Brady (Patriots)
QB Matt Hasselbeck (Seahawks)
Breakout Player of the Year - WR Miles Austin (Cowboys) - 27 rec 612 yrds 7TD
He had less than 400 yrds in his first three years... He has 500 in the last four games. He made headlines with a HUGE breakout performance in the Cowboys OT victoy against the Cheifs, with 10 rec, 250 yrds and 2 TDs. Instead of disappearing again, he followed it up with 171 more yards and 2 TDs. Expect more in the final half of the season.
Runner Ups - RB Cedric Benson (Bengals)
TE Vernon Davis (49ers)

Defending a National Title

UNC began the defense of their national title last night, with a relatively easy victory over the Isiah Thomas coached FIU Panthers, taking a 16 point lead at the half and cruising to an 88-72 victory. The big number was rebounding, they out rebounded the undersized Panthers 42-21, led by All-American preseason pick Ed Davis's 11 rebounds. Deon Thompson led in scoring with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Davis had 13, with Ty Zeller and Marcus Ginyard scoring 12 each. Marvin Roberts led FIU with 18 points.
LETS GO HEELS!!!
