OK. I don't believe in curses or any of that junk, but the Madden "Curse" is getting on my nerves.
If you didn't hear, Steelers Pro Bowl safety, Troy Polamalu, hurt his knee last night in the Steelers 13-10 OT win, and he will be out for 3-6 weeks. He did play very well before he got hurt in the second quarter,racking up 6 tackles and a spectacular one handed interception at the Steelers 5,which he returned for 16 yards. Here's a list of the other Madden cover athletes that have been "cursed"
2002 - Daunte Culpepper. Missed five games and played poorly.
2003 - Mashall Faulk. Missed six games, never ran for 1000 yards again.
2004 - Michael Vick. Broke leg, missed 11 games, went to jail 2 years later.
2005 - Ray Lewis. Missed only one game, but did not play at his usual high level.
2006 - Donavan McNabb. Missed last seven games of the season.
2007 - Shaun Alexander. Broke foot and missed six games. Never ran for 1000 yards again.
2008 - Vince Young. Missed one game, but played poorly and lost his job the next season.
2009 - Brett Favre. Did not miss a game, but played very poorly down the stretch, and is no longer in the Packer uniform.
2010 - Troy Polamalu/Larry Fitzgerald. Polamalu is out for 3-6 weeks and Fitzgerald has yet to play. The Cardinals play Sunday at home against the 49ers.
